Brethren Heritage Museum
Visit: Brethren Heritage Association
The Brethren Heritage Museum consists of three buildings, a tool shed, cabin and museum, evidence of modes of living in early days of Brethren. A docent is available to guide guests, give information and answer questions. Open Saturdays June through September, 1-4 pm. The museum complex is located in Brethren, MI 49619, on the corner of Amick and Cart streets on the east side of Lake Elinor.

Old Kirk Museum Open Hours

The Old Kirk Museum (now air conditioned!) will be open the first two Saturdays of the month July through October. The summer exhibit, "The Old Churches of Manistee",is part of the City of Manistee's Sesquicentennial celebration. On permanent display are the Madsen Lumbering Dioramas. OK is located 304 Walnut St., Manistee, "The oldest Danish Lutheran Church Building in America."

Kaleva Bottle House Museum Christmas Open House

The Kaleva Bottle House Museum, 14551 Wuoksi St., will be open on Sunday, December 3, from noon to 4:00 pm for a special Christmas celebration. Traditional decorations, the Finnish Heaven, music and refreshments will make this a memorable visit.

Winter Solstice

Annual Lighting of the Cemetery on the Winter Solstice, December 21, in Kaleva. Starting at 4:00 pm on the longest night, hundreds of luminaries are placed on graves in the Kaleva cemetery to honor loved ones. Meet at 14701 Metsola Ave. to help with the luminaries. There is a short program at the cemetery at 5:15 and a soup supper following at Kaleva’s Bethany Lutheran Church. All are welcome.
