Brethren Heritage Museum

The Brethren Heritage Museum consists of three buildings, the main museum formerly an ice house and store, and a tool shed housing primarily logging equipment. There is a model of the famous High Bridge railroad bridge, a must see! Open Sundays, June-September, 1-4 pm or by appointment. Call 231.477.5525.

Kaleva Depot Railroad Museum

The Kaleva Depot Railroad Museum is open on Saturdays from Memorial Day to Labor Day 12:00-4:00 pm. See railroad memorabilia, a M&NE restored engine and artifacts from the days the train passed through Kaleva many times a day. Located at 14420 Walta St., 231.362.3480 or 231.362.2080.

Kaleva Bottle House Museum

The Bottle House Museum in Kaleva is open on Saturdays and Sundays from Memorial Day through Labor Day, and Saturdays through October. New display features Brethren High School's award- winning Servie Learning class working in Kaleva 1996-2000, the Makinen Tackle Collection, many other displays updated. Located at 14551 Wuoksi St. 231.362.2080. Donation $3.00 per person.

The Kaleva Art Gallery is open Friday from 12-6 pm, Saturday from 10:00-4:00 and Sunday 12:00-4:00 pm. Arts and crafts by local artists for sale. The gallery is located in the former drug store in downtown Kaleva, across from mBank. Special shows July 7, glass creations by Sandi VanDonklear. August, displays at Yellow Dog in Onekama.

Winter Solstice

Annual Lighting of the Cemetery on the Winter Solstice, December 21, in Kaleva. Starting at 4:00 pm on the longest night, hundreds of luminaries are placed on graves in the Kaleva cemetery to honor loved ones. Meet at 14701 Metsola Ave. to help with the luminaries. There is a short program at the cemetery at 5:15 and a soup supper following at Kaleva’s Bethany Lutheran Church. All are welcome.
