Spirit of the Woods Music Festival

The 42nd Spirit of the Woods Folk Festival will be held at the Dickson Township Park, 14479 Coates Hwy, Brethren, MI on June 15, 2019, noon-10pm. This year featuring Sons of the Never Wrong, Conga Se Menne, Ethan Setiawan and the Mudskippers, Pierce Pettis and Natalie Mae Palms. Free admission, donations gladly accepted and needed.

Kaleva Depot Railroad Museum

The Kaleva Depot Railroad Museum is open on Saturdays from Memorial Day to Labor Day 12:00-4:00 pm. See railroad memorabilia, a M&NE restored engine and artifacts from the days the train passed through Kaleva many times a day. Located at 14420 Walta St., 231.362.3480 or 231.362.2080.

Kaleva Bottle House Museum

The Bottle House Museum in Kaleva is open on Saturdays and Sundays from Memorial Day through Labor Day, and Saturdays through October. New display features Brethren High School's award- winning Servie Learning class working in Kaleva 1996-2000, the Makinen Tackle Collection, many other displays updated. Located at 14551 Wuoksi St. 231.362.2080. Donation $3.00 per person.

Kaleva Bottle House Museum Christmas Open House

The Kaleva Bottle House Museum, 14551 Wuoksi St., will be open on Sunday, December 3, from noon to 4:00 pm for a special Christmas celebration. Traditional decorations, the Finnish Heaven, music and refreshments will make this a memorable visit.

Winter Solstice

Annual Lighting of the Cemetery on the Winter Solstice, December 21, in Kaleva. Starting at 4:00 pm on the longest night, hundreds of luminaries are placed on graves in the Kaleva cemetery to honor loved ones. Meet at 14701 Metsola Ave. to help with the luminaries. There is a short program at the cemetery at 5:15 and a soup supper following at Kaleva’s Bethany Lutheran Church. All are welcome.
