WELCOME TO THE ARTS AND CULTURE ALLIANCE OF MANISTEE COUNTY
The ACA was formed to promote and support the wide variety of arts and culture organizations in Manistee County. The goal of the ACA is to make art, drama, museums and culture a intregral part of residents' lives.
Please check out all the partners and resources on our website from miles around, consider making a donation, become a member and join us in our endeavors.
The Tunnel Mural Project consists of seventeen 4 x 10 foot murals painted by county students and displayed in the tunnel used to transport patients between the Medical Care Facility and the main hospital. Their purpose is to provide a pleasant, interesting, and creative presence for those patients. The program was initiated in 2010 and continued for 5 successive years. They have brainstorming different ways of “elevating” these amazing pieces of art so that they can be viewed more easily by the general public. Ideas are: Print and frame smaller versions of each work of art and place them in the hospital lobby and offer a special display in Hardy Hall at the Ramsdell (goal 2026). Each piece would have a plaque with each student artist’s name. Grants are being sought to cover the cost of the project. Members of the ACA Board would like to view the “Mural Tunnel” project and need to contact Joel Coleman to arrange a visit to the tunnel.
UPDATE: Arrangements have been made to do that. We invite all members to join the board for a tour of the Murals at Munson on May 12th at Noon! The ACA is partnering with the Munson to help bring the Mural Project to light!
Ice Breaker event: The turnout was excellent, venue beautiful, and delicious food was enjoyed. Our area museums were a special focus and Bob and Jan Thomas were honored by the Marilla Historical Society board for their long years of dedication and service to the museum projects there. They were presented with a gift and a “Proclamation” plaque. Muchfood was also donated by board members. Generous donations were given as well as many membership renewals were received. We have received $1, 835 in dues and donations so far for 2025.
